In 1959, the Soviet space probe Lunik 2 was the first terrestrial object to strike the Palus Putredinis. Since then, 66 missions have brought tons of man-made equipment to Earth's satellite. Much of it has become non-functional, including parts whose former purpose can no longer be determined.

Stefan Schmitzer took such material as a lexical reservoir for his long poem “liste der künstlichen objekte auf dem mond” (list of artificial objects on the moon) and lets the vocabulary of technology and natural sciences ignite a variety of evocations.

The chronicle of initial events in the course of selected expeditions tells of an inexorable process of increasingly dense data. Like the imprints preserved in lunar dust, the text draws traces through histories of politics, research, and media, from an ascension carved on Assyrian clay tablets to search engine algorithms of our day.

Stefan Schmitzer reads from his long poem liste der künstlichen objekte auf dem mond between archaizing divination and flickering beat gestures - a singular form finding of lunar poetry!
