Meetup
Stadtwerkstatt
Sat, Sept 9th, 18:30

<nettime> is not just a mailing list but an effort to formulate an international, networked discourse that neither promotes a dominant euphoria (to sell products) nor continues the cynical pessimism, spread by journalists and intellectuals in the 'old' media who generalize about 'new' media with no clear understanding of their communication aspects. We have produced, and will continue to produce books, readers, and web sites in various languages so an 'immanent' net critique will circulate both on- and offline.

Active since the late 90s, from summer 2023 the list is hosted in the servers of the Linz-based network initiative servus.at in the Stadtwerkstatt.

All <nettime> members, from frequent posters to longtime lurkers, as well as not-yet-members & the simply curious, are invited to a local meetup during the Ars Electronica Festival at the Stadtwerkstatt Linz as part of the 48×9 stwst program.

The local(host) meetup is intended as an informal exchange moment for the list, an opportunity to meet some fellow writers offline, to discuss pressing issues, and for those interested, to take a look at the actual server hosting the list.

servus.at is a non-profit net culture initiative based in Linz. As its main focus, servus.at deals with the demystification of technology, both in through cultural and technical processes.
